Accessibility Makes Memories Possible: Tom’s Night Out at Marvel Stadium

At TomCare Support Services, we’re all about helping people live life to the fullest and that includes nights filled with great music, big smiles, and unforgettable moments.

Recently, Tom had the chance to see Oasis perform live at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. As a music fan, this was a huge moment for him and thanks to the venue’s accessibility features and the Companion Card program, it was an easy and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

With his Companion Card, Sarah was able to attend the concert at no extra cost, a simple gesture that makes an enormous difference for people who need assistance. It meant Tom could enjoy the event safely and confidently, knowing support was right beside him the whole way.

From accessible seating and friendly staff to clear entry points and easy navigation, Marvel Stadium showed just how powerful true accessibility can be. Everyone deserves to enjoy the thrill of live music and on that night, Tom did exactly that.

And there’s even more excitement ahead: Lady Gaga is coming to Melbourne in December! For fans with mobility needs or other accessibility requirements, planning ahead can make the experience smooth and stress‑free.

Accessibility at Marvel Stadium - What You Need to Know

The venue is well set up for accessibility, and knowing the details ahead can really help make the outing smooth and enjoyable. Here are key things to keep in mind:

Tickets & Seating

  • Accessible tickets (including wheelchair spaces) can be purchased via the stadium’s authorised ticketing agency (Ticketmaster) using an interactive map that shows wheelchair logos for accessible spots.

  • If you hold a companion card (such as the Companion Card in Victoria), the venue supports companion access for free.

On-site, there are wheelchair services available: you can request assistance from customer service staff or at Guest Services (Gates 1 & 5).

Getting There & Parking

  • The stadium address: 740 Bourke St, Docklands VIC 3008.

  • Accessible parking can be pre‑booked. Also, if you have a disabled parking permit you’ll need to let attendants know on arrival.

  • Nearby tram stops and pedestrian access make the stadium easy to reach without a car.

Entrance & Internal Movement

  • Multiple lifts and ramps connect street level to concourses and seating levels. Gates 4, 5, 6, 8 & 9 have lift access. A ramp from La Trobe Street leads to the street-to-concourse level.

  • Drop‑off points are available at Bourke Street, La Trobe Street, and Harbour Esplanade for visitors needing mobility support.

  • Don’t forget to use your taxi subsidy card to get % off the fare.

Seating & Facilities

  • Accessible toilets (and all-gender toilets) are located at various aisles across levels 1-3.

  • Sensory rooms (Level 1, Aisle 3; Level 3, Aisle 31) and sensory bags with tools like noise‑cancelling headphones, fidget tools, weighted lap pads etc are available free of charge.

  • Assistance dogs are permitted with documentation and harness.

Tips for a Smooth Visit

  • If you’re booking in advance, mark clearly your needs, ie wheelchair space, companion seats so you get the best possible location and support.

  • Arrive a bit earlier than usual so you have time to navigate ramps/lifts and find your seat without haste.

  • Use the gate entry that is closest to your seat and services, a lift-accessible gate is often easier.

  • If you need to park, pre-book an accessible space, arrive early, and display any permit you have.

  • If you have sensory sensitivities (e.g., noise, crowds), take advantage of the sensory room/bags.

  • Keep a phone or contact number for Guest Services handy in case you need help on arrival.

  • Bring your Companion Card or documentation to show if needed.

  • Consider the end of the event: arrange assistance or wheelchair service for exiting.
